What does structured data mean?

SEO - Search Engine Optimization

You may not notice structured data, when it is displayed in a browser like Mozilla Firefox or all others. You can see it only in the source code of a web page. However structured data can be easily seen when  Google or other search engine bots crawl your web site.
This kind of data helps search engines to get more information from your content. If you mark with structured data part of your text, Google will know for example that a particular sentence is your address or phone number, etc. – it won’t be just a text for it now
Here you will see two examples of texts with and without structured data:

Code without structured data

<p> Hello, my name is Vladimir Nguyen.

I work as SEO. I publish some articles on this topic at

<a href="http://cholakovit.com/">

cholakovit.com </ a>.

  I live on Budapest 3 Street, 1000 Sofia,

Bulgaria. </ P>

Code with structured data (microdata)

SEO - structural data

<p itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Person">
Hello, my name is
<span itemprop="name"> Vladimir Nguyen </span>.
I work as <span itemprop="jobTitle">SEO</span>.
I publish some articles on this topic at <a href="http://cholakovit.com" itemprop="url">cholakovit.com</a>.
<span itemprop="address" itemscope
I live on
<span itemprop="streetAddress"> Budapest 3 Street </span>,
<span itemprop="postalCode">1000</span>

<span itemprop="addressLocality"> Sofia</span>,

<span itemprop="addressCountry"> Bulgaria </span>.
SEO - data
As you can see, the second code contains more markup! This additional markup here is made using microdata. You can see examples about the use of microdata in the next article “Microdata, semantic search and SEO”
